How to Mix Mica Powder with CA Glue to Get Desired Color?

1 min reading time

We know that our range of CA glue colors can be limiting when you want to get a desired color match with a surface you are working on, or if you just want different colors for some aesthetic beauty. You can actually mix mica powder and CA glue to create a beautiful, shimmering effect that is perfect for a variety of crafts and DIY projects.

Once you select which powder you want to mix, we advise to have a separate mixing cup/bowl. This is because you will mix only the amount you need for your immediate project, as the mixture will harden and cannot be saved for later use. Therefore don't mix inside the CA bottle.

  1. Put a small amount of CA glue in the mixing cup or bowl. Then, add a pinch of mica powder to the glue and mix well with a silicon spatula. The amount of mica powder you need will depend on the desired effect and the amount of CA glue you are using. Start with a small amount and gradually add more until you achieve the desired color and shimmer.
  2. Once the mixture is fully combined, it can be applied to your project. You can use a brush, spatula or other tool to apply the mixture to your surface.
  3. Allow the mixture some time to dry completely. The drying time will depend on the amount of glue used and the humidity of the environment. Typically, it will take at least 15 minutes to dry completely.
  4. If you want a smoother and shinier finish, you can sand and polish the surface once the mixture has dried.

Mica powder and CA glue can be a bit messy, so it's a good idea to work in a well-ventilated area and to cover your work area with newspaper or a drop cloth.
